Privacy Policy
Last updated: 19 October 2026
- We collect only what LUMIO needs to work: your account, your topics and your reading progress.
- No ads, no tracking or analytics tools, and we never sell your data.
- Your name, email and password are never given to the AI that helps write lessons.
- You can ask us to delete your account and data at any time.
This policy explains what information LUMIO (“LUMIO”, “we”, “us”) collects when you use the LUMIO app for Android and iOS and the website at lumio.mabdullahshahzad.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using LUMIO you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
| Account details | Your email address and a password (stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider; we cannot read it). If you choose “Continue with Google”, we receive your Google account email, name and profile identifier from Google. |
|---|---|
| Profile and settings | An optional display name, your time zone, language setting, preferred reading time and whether streak reminders are on. |
| Learning activity | The topics you choose, the lessons shown to you, your reading progress, completed lessons, daily reading activity, your streak, and which ideas you have covered. This is how LUMIO picks your next lesson and shows your progress. |
| Technical data | Like any online service, our hosting and database providers receive standard connection data such as IP address, device and app version, and request times. The app also asks our servers whether a newer version is available. |
We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera data, and the app does not contain advertising or third-party analytics tools. The website sets no cookies and uses no analytics.
2. How we use your information
- To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
- To choose, prepare and show your lessons, and to save your progress and streak.
- To keep the service working, fix problems and prevent abuse.
- To tell you about app updates inside the app.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for advertising.
3. How lessons are made, and the role of AI
Lessons are written from passages of public-domain books and openly licensed articles in our library. An AI language model that runs on the developer’s own computer helps draft them. It is given only the source passages and topic names. It is never given your name, email, password or account details, and lessons are checked by software before they are saved. AI can still make mistakes; see our Terms of Service.
4. Who we share information with
We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf:
- Supabase — database, sign-in and file storage (your account, profile and learning data live here, and APK downloads are served from here).
- Google — only if you choose to sign in with Google.
- Vercel — hosts the website.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it or to protect the safety and rights of our users and the service. If LUMIO is ever transferred to another owner, your information would move with it and this policy would continue to apply until you are told otherwise.
5. Where your data is stored and how it is protected
Data is stored with our providers, which may be located outside your country. Connections to LUMIO are encrypted, and the database uses row-level access rules so each signed-in user can only read and change their own account and learning records. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Notifications
LUMIO stores your streak-reminder preference. LUMIO does not currently send push notifications; if that changes, any reminders will be encouraging and you will be able to turn them off.
7. How long we keep your information
We keep your account and learning data while your account is open. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your profile, topics, reading progress and streak data. Copies in routine provider backups may remain for a short time before they expire.
8. Your choices and rights
You can change your name, topics and reminder setting in the app at any time. You can also ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, or delete your account and data. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, such as objecting to processing or complaining to a data-protection authority. Email us at the address below to make a request; we may need to confirm it is really you.
9. Children
LUMIO is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as LUMIO grows. We will change the “last updated” date above, and for significant changes we will also tell you in the app or on this page.
